Taliban Opens Specialized Heart Defect Hospital in Kabul Offering Free Treatment
The Afghan Red Crescent Society, under Taliban administration, has announced the opening of a specialized hospital for treating patients with heart defects in Kabul. According to officials, the center will provide its services free of charge.
The hospital was inaugurated on Sunday, August 2, in a ceremony attended by Taliban officials. Authorities stated that the center has the capacity to treat approximately two thousand patients annually.
Abdul Wali Hotmanzi, the head of the hospital, said at the opening ceremony that the facility includes two operating rooms equipped with modern technology and is prepared to carry out specialized heart surgeries.
Shahabuddin Dilawar, head of the Taliban administration for the Afghan Red Crescent Society, claimed that so far, 15,000 patients with heart defects have been treated in domestic hospitals at the expense of this organization. He expressed hope that with the operation of this hospital, patients will no longer have to wait years for treatment.
Previously, many children suffering from heart defects were sent to India for treatment or sought care at private hospitals within the country. This process imposed heavy financial burdens on families and limited access for low-income groups to specialized medical services.
