Uzbekistan Donates $200,000 Worth of Medical Equipment to Balkh Hospital

Continuing shortages in Afghanistan’s healthcare system, the Taliban-run Ministry of Public Health announced that Uzbekistan has donated medical and non-medical equipment worth $200,000 to the Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Hospital in Balkh province.

According to a statement released by the ministry on Saturday, August 1, the aid includes patient beds, wheelchairs, a refrigerator, and other essential items for the medical center.

The Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban administration claims that these supplies aim to strengthen treatment capacities and improve health services at the Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Hospital.

This comes amid persistent challenges faced by Afghanistan’s healthcare system in recent years, including equipment shortages, budget cuts, and reduced international support. Many health centers in the provinces are struggling to provide adequate services to residents. The Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Hospital is one of the key medical facilities in northern Afghanistan, serving patients from several neighboring provinces as well.
