Pakistani Military Kills 15 TTP Members in Counter-Terrorism Operations

The Pakistani army has announced that 15 members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in two separate military operations carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Among the dead was Alam Mehsud, one of the TTP’s key commanders.
According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday, November 17, the operations took place across different areas between November 14 and 15.
In the first operation, conducted in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan district, Pakistani forces targeted a TTP hideout, killing 10 members of the group, including Alam Mehsud.
In a subsequent operation in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan district, five more TTP members were killed. The Pakistani military referred to the TTP as “Khawarij supported by India” and stated that clearance operations in the area are ongoing.
The army added that counter-terrorism efforts by security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue until the complete elimination of what it called “terrorist threats backed by foreign actors.”
Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, also known as TTP, is a militant group based in the tribal regions bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan. Since the collapse of a ceasefire with the Pakistani government in November 2022, the group has intensified attacks on security personnel and civilians.
The growing number of militant attacks in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces has sparked widespread concern over regional security. Despite pledges to prevent terrorist groups from operating on Afghan soil, the Taliban administration has failed to take effective and satisfactory action.
