EU Launches New Defense Partnership with Ukraine to Boost Military Production

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, announced upon her arrival in Kyiv that the European Union and Ukraine are launching a new defense industrial partnership. According to her, the initiative aims to integrate the defense industries of both parties and increase the speed and volume of military production.

Von der Leyen wrote in a post on the social media platform X that new plans will be introduced to enhance coordination in the defense sector to facilitate faster and greater production. She emphasized that the current circumstances require new methods of cooperation between Brussels and Kyiv.

The European Commission President also stated that during this visit, discussions will take place regarding Ukraine’s EU accession process and preparations for the upcoming winter. She added that Ukraine has become a security provider for Europe in various areas, which calls for more structured cooperation.

This visit occurs as the war in Ukraine continues, with European countries seeking to strengthen military and economic support for Kyiv.
