UN OCHA Facilitates Essential Health Services for Mothers in Badakhshan’s Pangani Region

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that, with its support, mothers and children in the Pangani area of Badakhshan province now have access to essential health services near their homes.

On Thursday, July 9th, OCHA wrote on its X page that in the mountainous province of Badakhshan, access to health services can mean the difference between life and death — especially in remote areas where medical facilities are limited.

According to the organization, humanitarian aid has enabled the provision of vital health services to families in Pangani. These services include safe childbirth for mothers and treatment for malnutrition among children and women.

OCHA also emphasized that bringing health services closer to remote areas plays a key role in improving residents’ access to medical care — an issue that remains a serious challenge in many parts of Afghanistan.
