Taliban Agriculture Minister Meets Indian Official in New Delhi to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Attaullah Omari, the Taliban’s Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, met with Peetra Margareta, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, in New Delhi during his visit to India. They discussed expanding bilateral cooperation. The Taliban administration announced on Wednesday, 17 Saratan, that the main focus of the meeting was to develop cooperation in agriculture, livestock, and trade sectors. According to the statement, both sides emphasized strengthening relations between Afghanistan and India, exchanging experiences, and expanding economic cooperation. The Taliban’s agriculture minister arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday leading a delegation. This trip is part of the Taliban administration’s diplomatic efforts to develop regional relations and secure economic cooperation. These efforts continue despite the fact that the Taliban government has not yet been officially recognized by many countries, including India. Despite not officially recognizing the Taliban administration, India has maintained practical relations with Afghanistan in recent years and sought to continue its presence and role in the country’s developments through diplomatic interactions and economic cooperation. However, the future of these engagements will depend on the political and legal situation in Afghanistan and how the Taliban administration handles international commitments.
