Funeral Ceremony of Martyred Leader to be Held Today in Mashhad after Tehran, Qom, Najaf, and Karbala

The funeral and burial ceremony of the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution will be held today, Thursday, July 8, in Mashhad at the holy shrine of Imam Reza. This event follows the widespread public funerals held in Tehran, Qom, Najaf al-Ashraf, and Karbala al-Mualla.

The body of the martyred Imam arrived in Mashhad this afternoon to a large reception by citizens. It is expected that after the funeral procession in Mashhad, the burial will take place near the holy shrine of Imam Reza.

The Astan Quds Razavi has announced that while preparing the infrastructure to serve pilgrims, special cultural and promotional programs have been planned for the funeral and burial ceremonies. These programs aim to better manage the crowd and ensure an orderly event.

According to organizers, after the funeral procession along Imam Reza Street, prayers will be performed over the sacred body of the martyred leader and other family members at the holy shrine. Prayer lines will be arranged on the northern side of the shrine, extending along Sheikh Tabarsi Street, especially in the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) courtyard and surrounding courtyards.

Special mourning programs featuring eulogists of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and international Quran reciters will continuously be held in the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) courtyard to facilitate broad participation of pilgrims and attendees.
