Fourteen Armed Robbers Arrested in Herat

The security office of District 9 in Herat city says it has arrested a 14-member gang of armed robbers following a series of covert operations.

According to security officials, the suspects had been involved in stealing citizens’ property—including mobile phones and vehicles—in various parts of Herat city. The group is accused of killing a resident during their most recent robbery, which took place at a home in Rabat Sangi district.

Mawlawi Abdul Bari Zaid, the district police chief, stated that seven types of weapons, three motorcycles, and several mobile phones were recovered from the suspects. He added that during preliminary investigations, the detainees admitted to involvement in several other thefts.

The rising trend of armed robberies in Herat province has raised concerns among its residents. The Taliban administration’s failure to ensure public safety has prompted serious questions about the effectiveness of its security forces.
