UNICEF Steps Up Efforts to Vaccinate Unimmunized Children Across Afghanistan

UNICEF in Afghanistan has announced that, with the support of the Global Vaccine Alliance (Gavi), efforts to deliver lifesaving vaccination services to children throughout the country have intensified. The agency states that a large number of children in Afghanistan have yet to receive even their first dose of vaccine.
According to UNICEF, “zero-dose” children are those who have not received any type of vaccine so far and are vulnerable to preventable diseases. This situation has raised concerns in the public health sector.
Meanwhile, UNICEF highlighted a 53-day-old infant named Arsan who has received his first vaccine. The organization emphasized that with continued technical and financial support, access to immunization services will expand in various regions of Afghanistan.
UNICEF also stressed the importance of vaccination as one of the most effective ways to prevent dangerous diseases among children and called for ongoing cooperation to achieve more comprehensive coverage of children across the country.
