Israel’s Defense Minister Vows No Withdrawal from Southern Lebanon Amid Military Tensions

Israel’s Defense Minister, Yisrael Katz, has announced that the Israeli regime’s military activities in southern Lebanon will continue, with no plans to withdraw from what is referred to as the “security zone.” He emphasized that the Israeli army will face no restrictions in Lebanon and will maintain its military gains.

Katz claimed that the ceasefire in southern Lebanon allows the Israeli army to consolidate its positions and act without constraints to “eliminate threats.” According to him, withdrawal from this area is not under consideration, and Israeli forces will remain in their current positions.

Meanwhile, Itamar Ben-Gvir, the Israeli Interior Minister, also criticized the restrictions imposed by the United States on Israel’s military freedom in southern Lebanon, stating that continuing the ceasefire in its current form is unacceptable. He called for ongoing military pressure on Hezbollah and stressed that Israel’s security decisions should not depend on any country’s stance.

These statements come after U.S. President Donald Trump urged Tel Aviv to exercise restraint and halt its military attacks in Lebanon. Southern Lebanon has been one of the main flashpoints of tension between Israel and Hezbollah in recent years, and any escalation in this area could have broader implications for regional stability.
