Taliban Deputy Governor Meets Birjand University President to Discuss Afghan Students’ Educational Challenges

Nur Mohammad Mutaqqil, the Taliban’s Deputy Governor in Mashhad, met with Dr. Ahmad Khamsan, President of Birjand University in Iran, to discuss the expansion of academic cooperation and the situation of Afghan students.

According to official sources, during the meeting, both parties focused on facilitating greater educational opportunities for Afghan students, reducing tuition fees, and addressing certain bureaucratic challenges. They also emphasized the development of scientific relations between educational institutions.

This meeting comes amid ongoing complaints from some Afghan students in Iran regarding administrative complexities and high educational costs. It is expected that the relevant representatives will pursue practical measures to fulfill the commitments made, thereby improving access to higher education for Afghan youth.

Birjand University, located in eastern Iran, has been home to a significant number of Afghan students in recent years.
