Afghanistan’s Power CEO Meets Iranian Companies to Discuss Electricity Investment

Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, CEO of Afghanistan’s Electricity Company, met with officials from two major Iranian firms, Iran Transfo and Mabna, to discuss investment in electricity generation, sales, and related power grid equipment. The meeting took place at the CEO’s office.
Mohammad Sadiq Haqparast, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Electricity Company, told Radio Omid that the discussions focused on expanding cooperation in electrical equipment production and strengthening economic ties between Afghanistan and Iran. According to him, the CEO emphasized the importance of investing in power production and electrical equipment to develop the country’s energy infrastructure and welcomed the interest shown by Iranian investors.
The spokesperson added that officials from Iran Transfo also invited Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar to visit Iran to familiarize himself firsthand with the company’s production processes and operational system.
Operating under Taliban administration, Afghanistan’s Electricity Company has recently sought to strengthen the power grid and reduce dependence on energy imports by encouraging investment in domestic electrical equipment production. However, no details have been provided regarding the potential investment amount or the timeline for implementing these collaborations.
