Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Sign $10 Million Strategic Mining Cooperation Agreement

A strategic cooperation agreement in the mining sector has been signed between the Amanat Afghanistan Akhandzadeh Group of Companies and the state-owned Technical Metals Complex of Uzbekistan. Under this agreement, approximately $10 million will be invested across various mining areas.
According to the agreement, both parties will collaborate on geological surveys, mineral exploration and extraction, establishment of processing and refining plants, creation of standard laboratories, and training of Afghan personnel. Additionally, the development of necessary infrastructure for mining activities is highlighted as a key focus of this pact.
Afghanistan’s mining sector is considered one of the country’s largest economic potentials. However, it has been under Taliban administration in recent years, with ongoing concerns about the transparency of contracts, revenue usage, and the share of the people from these national resources. Given the strategic importance of this sector, it is expected that more details of this agreement, including oversight mechanisms and guarantees for public interests, will be clearly communicated to the people.
So far, there has been no information released regarding the project timelines or the practical management of this investment.
