Taliban Ministry Signs $1.6 Million Agreement to Support Displaced Persons

The Taliban’s Ministry of Migrants and Returnees has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding worth over 1.631 million US dollars with a humanitarian coordination organization. According to the ministry, the agreement was finalized today and the budget amounts to 1,631,180 dollars.
Based on the released statement, this financial aid is set to be distributed across 16 provinces, including Balkh, Jawzjan, Sar-e Pol, Baghlan, Kunduz, Takhar, Faryab, Herat, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, Farah, Khost, Paktika, Paktia, and Bamyan.
The program aims to support 61,987 internally displaced persons, returnees, and host families. The primary focus of the project is to provide livelihood opportunities and create job prospects for vulnerable individuals in these areas.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Migrants stated that implementing this program could contribute to generating suitable employment opportunities, fostering economic growth, and reducing illegal migration. However, some experts consistently emphasize that the success of such initiatives depends on transparency in implementation, effective monitoring, and equitable access to aid for those in need—a matter of particular importance given the current situation in the country.
