Turkey Warns of Difficult Negotiations Ahead Despite Positive Iran-US Agreement

Turkey’s intelligence chief stated that although the announced agreement between Washington and Tehran has been welcomed, the next phase will involve difficult negotiations over fundamental issues. He emphasized that this process requires a cautious approach and has not yet reached its conclusion.
According to Turkish media, Ibrahim Kalin, responding to the signed understanding between Iran and the US, said that any final agreement between the two sides will be accompanied by complex talks. He noted that the upcoming stage will address core topics and contentious matters that will require intensive consultations to resolve.
Kalin welcomed the principle of the agreement but cautioned that initial optimism should not prevent a realistic view of the remaining challenges. He stated that the path ahead could be decisive and that the outcome of these talks will have a direct impact on the regional situation.
He also expressed gratitude towards countries involved in the negotiation process, including Pakistan and Qatar, adding that this understanding could be an important step toward strengthening lasting peace in the region. According to him, continuing this process could help achieve greater stability in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that after months of tension between the US and Iran, the region “breathed a sigh of relief” following the announcement of this agreement. He described the end of this tension as an opportunity to reduce conflicts.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, stressed the need for caution against any provocative actions that might disrupt the agreement process. He added that Ankara will continue its efforts to promote peace, calm, and stability in the region.
