Unknown Projectile Hits Oil Tanker Off Oman Coast Amid Rising Regional Tensions

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported that an oil tanker was struck by an “unknown projectile” six miles east of the Oman coast, in an incident occurring amid escalating tensions in the region.
The agency emphasized in its report that there were no casualties from the incident, and the situation remains under investigation. No further details have been released regarding the source or type of the projectile.
This development comes after a series of attacks on three oil tankers named Mariox, Setblu, and Jaloeer in the Sea of Oman earlier this month (June), coinciding with what has been described as a blockade by the United States.
According to reports, these attacks targeted the engine rooms of the vessels, resulting in the deaths of several Indian sailors and the disappearance of others. The Sea of Oman is a crucial energy transit route in the region, and any security incidents in this area could impact international shipping operations.
