UN: Women Are the Primary Victims in Taliban-Pakistan Clashes

The United Nations Women’s section has stated that women and girls have suffered the most in the recent clashes between the Taliban administration and Pakistan and are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. The agency emphasized that access to healthcare services, food, and shelter must be immediately provided for women and girls in the affected areas.

On Thursday, 21 Jawza, the UN Women’s section expressed concern on the social media platform X about the escalating humanitarian consequences of these conflicts and warned that the continuation of violence will worsen the fragile situation of women and girls.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that following fresh Pakistani attacks on Afghan soil, 13 civilians have been killed and 10 others injured. According to UNAMA, women and children are among the victims of these attacks.

The Taliban administration has accused Pakistan of violating Afghan airspace and bombing multiple locations in the provinces of Khost, Paktika, and Kunar. Conversely, Pakistani officials have described the death of 13 civilians as “war propaganda.”

The border clashes between the two parties continue as international organizations have repeatedly warned about the direct impact of these tensions on civilians, especially women and children. Critics say the Taliban administration bears direct responsibility for ensuring citizens’ security and preventing the expansion of the humanitarian crisis and must facilitate safe and immediate access to humanitarian aid.
