Inter-Ministerial Committee Approves Commercial Market Project in Jawzjan’s Sheberghan

The Economic Deputy of the Taliban’s Prime Minister’s Office has announced that the plan to build a commercial market in Sheberghan city, the capital of Jawzjan province, has been approved by the Inter-Ministerial Investment Committee. This plan was deemed feasible for implementation following review at the committee’s regular meeting.
According to published information, the market is planned to be constructed on land belonging to Sheberghan municipality. The private sector will invest approximately 23 million Afghanis in this project. The building will be three stories high and will contain 54 shops.
In the same meeting, another plan concerning the construction of a residential and commercial complex in the 7th district of Kabul city, near Darulaman Road and on municipal land, was discussed. After an initial review, this plan was referred to relevant departments for technical and financial evaluation.
The Inter-Ministerial Investment Committee stated that responsible departments must submit their evaluation reports within the specified time frame. However, no further details have been released regarding the monitoring mechanism, contract transparency, and the method of allocating public lands—issues that have consistently been raised as serious concerns by citizens and economic activists.
