China Urges Continued Global Support for Afghanistan’s Stability and Development

China’s representative to the United Nations Security Council stated that Afghanistan has achieved stability and expanded its relations with various regional and global countries. He also emphasized Afghanistan’s constructive role in strengthening regional stability and economic cooperation.
Fu Cong, China’s permanent representative at the meeting, said that continued international cooperation could pave the way for sustainable development and economic growth in Afghanistan. According to him, expanding relations between Afghanistan and the global community will lead to increased mutual trust and further cooperation.
These remarks come as the Taliban administration, following its takeover of Afghanistan, has sought to develop political and economic ties with regional countries. However, widespread restrictions on citizens’ rights, particularly those of women and girls, and the absence of an inclusive political structure remain significant challenges to full engagement with the international community.
Some observers believe that although certain countries have increased practical interactions with the Taliban administration, achieving sustainable stability and economic growth in Afghanistan requires internal legitimacy, respect for fundamental citizens’ rights, and establishing a responsive governance system—issues that have been seriously criticized by international bodies so far.
