Details of the Three Phases of the CASA-1000 Power Project Announced

The Breshna Company has announced that the CASA-1000 electricity transmission project extends over hundreds of kilometers within Afghanistan in three phases, generating an annual revenue of 60 million dollars for the country.

According to the provided information, the first phase of this project begins at Sherkhan Bandar in Kunduz province and continues to the Dehsalah district of Baghlan province, spanning 197 kilometers. This section marks the entry point of imported electricity into Afghan territory.

The second phase also stretches approximately 197 kilometers, with its transmission line passing through the provinces of Baghlan, Panjshir, and Kapisa. This route covers a crucial part of energy transmission towards the central region of the country.

In the third phase, the 188.4-kilometer-long electricity line extends from Kapisa, passing through Kabul, Laghman, and Nangarhar provinces, reaching the Durand Line at Torkham—the point from which electricity is transmitted to Pakistan.

The CASA-1000 project is designed to transfer 1,300 megawatts of electricity from Central Asian countries to South Asia. Afghanistan’s role in this plan is that of a transit country, earning 60 million dollars annually from the transit of the power line. This revenue, if managed transparently, can significantly impact the improvement of the country’s energy infrastructure and economic development.
