Kremlin Says US Not Ready to Expand Relations with Russia

The Kremlin has stated that the United States is currently not prepared to deepen relations with Moscow, although Russia welcomes Washington’s willingness to help resolve the Ukraine crisis.
Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian presidential office, told the media on Saturday that the US has tied the development of economic relations with Russia to the resolution of the Ukraine crisis, a stance that Moscow considers mistaken. He emphasized that advancing bilateral relations requires effort from both sides, but at present, such readiness is not seen from the US.
Peskov added that whenever Washington takes genuine steps to restore relations, Moscow will reciprocate. At the same time, he noted that Russia has never exaggerated the US’s ability to resolve the complex Ukraine crisis.
The Kremlin spokesperson also referred to ties between Moscow and Beijing, describing Russia-China relations as “rich and multifaceted,” expressing hope that this cooperation will continue in the coming years.
In another part of his statement, he called for the fulfillment of the objectives of Russia’s “special military operation” and stressed that Moscow insists on achieving its interests and the goals set at the beginning of the operation. The term “special military operation” is used by Russian officials to describe the country’s military action in Ukraine.
