Taliban Deny Repeated Contact Attempts by Pakistani Foreign Minister

The Taliban administration has denied reports that Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar made six unsuccessful attempts to contact Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
Zia Ahmad Takal, head of public relations for the Taliban’s foreign ministry, called the claims inaccurate in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He stated that the telephone conversations between the two sides were coordinated and conducted with mutual understanding.
According to Takal, in the first call, Ishaq Dar admitted he did not have complete information about the situation and promised to follow up after further review.
Takal added that a second call did take place between the two, but subsequent attempts by Dar to reach out again failed due to various reasons he did not specify.
He also criticized the Pakistani foreign minister’s recent statements, saying they were not in line with the principles of mutual respect and diplomatic engagement and indicated a lack of coordination.
Tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban administration have been escalating in recent weeks over border issues, migration, and security concerns. Such statements and reactions point to growing challenges in bilateral relations and a lack of diplomatic clarity between the two countries.
