Tehran Denies US Claims of Plotting to Assassinate American Officials

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has dismissed recent statements by the US Secretary of State alleging Tehran’s attempts to assassinate American officials. On Wednesday, June 3, Esmaeil Baqaei responded on the social media platform X to comments made by Marco Rubio during a US congressional hearing, writing, “An unbeliever judges everyone by his own standards.” He further emphasized that such accusations cannot whitewash what he described as “war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity against the Iranian nation.”
Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, claimed at the congressional hearing on Tuesday, June 2, that Iran is planning to assassinate American officials. He stated that individuals in the US have been convicted in connection with this plot, and according to him, another individual was arrested just the day before.
Rubio also alleged that “Iranian agents” have planned to assassinate US political figures, including the country’s president. Iranian officials have previously dismissed these accusations as baseless.
