Son of Taliban Commander Involved in Violent Dispute Over Grazing Land in Takhar

Six locals were injured in a violent altercation over the ownership of a pasture in Warsaj district of Takhar province, northeastern Afghanistan. Local sources confirmed to Amu TV that the incident occurred on Sunday, November 1 (according to the Persian calendar), in the village of Sangab in the Qunduz area, involving the son of a local Taliban commander.

According to the sources, the dispute began when Jamahir, the son of Darab Bai, a local Taliban commander, shot and injured a resident with a firearm. Subsequently, along with his brother-in-law, Qiyam, he allegedly assaulted a group of locals. The wounded were taken to the provincial hospital in Takhar, where three of them are reported to be in critical condition.

Sources also said that Qiyam has since been arrested by Taliban members, while Jamahir and his other associates remain in the area and have reportedly threatened locals against filing complaints about the incident.

In addition, local sources stated that Darab Bai—who is also allegedly involved in illegal gold mining activities in Badakhshan province—returned to the area after the incident. The growing influence of Taliban fighters in civilian matters, particularly the seizure of grazing lands and natural resources, has once again raised concerns about the safety of local residents.

As of the time of publication, the Taliban administration has not issued any public statement regarding the incident.
