UN Launches Mobile Health Response After Northern Afghanistan Earthquake

Following a 6.3-magnitude earthquake in northern Afghanistan, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced the deployment of mobile health teams to assist those affected in the impacted regions.

According to the organization, specialized teams focused on reproductive health services—including critical care for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers—have been dispatched to the disaster zones. Essential healthcare packages aimed at supporting maternal health under these emergency conditions have also been distributed.

UNFPA stressed that these efforts are intended to reduce health risks for women and girls who now face severe challenges in the aftermath of the natural disaster.

Although the international community continues its humanitarian response to crises in Afghanistan, the absence of accountable institutions and the Taliban administration’s neglect of basic citizen needs, particularly in remote areas, have further complicated the plight of the victims.
