Zelensky Warns of US Missile Shortages and Ukraine’s Growing Budget Deficit

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, has stated that the United States does not have sufficient missile production; a situation he said could impact the course of the war and stability in other regions of the world. He also reported a significant increase in Ukraine’s budget deficit, adding that the country has endured a very difficult winter.

In an interview with CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” Zelensky said that Russia has attacked Ukraine with a large number of ballistic missiles in recent months, putting heavy pressure on Kyiv’s financial and military resources. According to him, the consequences of the war are not limited to the battlefronts but have also directly affected the economic situation.

He cited Middle East developments and the war against Iran as one of the factors intensifying the budget deficit, saying these conditions could pave the way for broader crises worldwide, including in the Middle East. Zelensky also expressed hope that diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire would be successful.

The Ukrainian president added that he wishes for peace in the Middle East and the United States and hopes that Donald Trump, the President of the US, and his team will engage in negotiations to reach a ceasefire. He also emphasized that he is willing to meet with Vladimir Putin if the Russian leader is prepared for dialogue.
