Gas Leak Explosion in Islamabad High Court Injures 12

Security officials in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, have confirmed that an explosion occurred yesterday in a container located in the basement of the Islamabad High Court building.
The blast has been attributed to a gas leak and reportedly injured 12 people. According to initial reports, the condition of two of the injured is critical.
The explosion in such a key judicial facility, located in Pakistan’s political heart, has raised questions about safety measures in critical institutions. In settings of national importance, even minor negligence can lead to severe consequences.
Although officials say the incident was not caused by terrorism, the recurring issue of poor risk management in neighboring Afghanistan highlights the urgent need for strengthened infrastructure and safety protocols. The Taliban administration is also urged to draw lessons from this event by enhancing security in judicial spaces and other vital offices, as recent years in Afghanistan have seen similar incidents due to weak infrastructure and lack of effective oversight.
