Russia to Begin Exporting Medicines to Afghanistan Following Agreement

A Russian analytical media outlet has reported that the Russian pharmaceutical company Pharmasyntez, after reaching an agreement with Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health, is set to start exporting medicinal products to the country from this summer.

According to the report, the first shipments of medicines will be delivered to the Afghan market within the next two months. Details about the types of medicines agreed upon have not yet been disclosed.

It is also mentioned that both sides are considering expanding cooperation and gradually increasing export volumes in subsequent phases.

This comes at a time when Afghanistan’s health sector has faced shortages of medicines and medical equipment in recent years, and some residents in certain provinces have complained about difficulties accessing health services. Given this situation, transparency regarding the types and quality of imported medicines and how they are distributed in hospitals and health centers is a significant issue that the Taliban administration is expected to address clearly.
