Panjshir Police Warn After 17 Drownings Amid Tourist Influx

The Panjshir Police Command has announced that 17 people have drowned in the province’s waters in the year 1404 in the Solar Hijri calendar; most of these individuals had traveled to Panjshir for tourism and to visit natural attractions, according to officials.
Haqmal Saad, spokesperson for the command, said in a statement that with the arrival of the Eid al-Adha holidays and a significant increase in tourists from various provinces, the dangers posed by rising water levels and strong river currents have intensified. He urged visitors to avoid swimming or playing in deep areas and sections with swift water flow.
The statement emphasized that tourists must adhere to security, traffic, and environmental guidelines and should not leave children and adolescents unsupervised near the rivers. The public was also urged to take seriously the advice of security forces, rescue teams, and other responsible organizations.
The Panjshir Police Command added that maintaining cleanliness in recreational areas, rivers, and public places is a collective responsibility and that following the regulations can play an important role in preventing tragic incidents and protecting the lives of residents and tourists.
