Tajikistan’s President Orders Strengthening of Persian Script Education in Schools

Imomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan, has issued a special directive instructing the Ministry of Education and other responsible institutions to seriously enhance the quality of teaching the “Alphabet of the Ancestors” or Persian script in all schools and educational institutions across the country.

According to an official report published on the website of the Presidency of Tajikistan, this decision was made on Thursday during a government meeting. Tajik officials said that this move is part of Dushanbe’s broader policies to expand research, education, and promotion of the history and what is referred to as the “authentic Aryan culture,” aiming to help the younger generation establish a closer connection with their written and ancient heritage.

The meeting, which also focused on development programs, health sector, and localizing industries, saw the President describe the revival of the ancestral language and script as an indispensable component of national cultural awareness programs. He linked this effort to preparations for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence.

Within this framework, the creation and implementation of specialized textbooks, including “Alphabet and Texts of the Ancestors,” for various educational grades have been planned. The goal of this initiative is for Tajik students to learn reading and writing in the Persian script with standardized, high-quality skills.
