Ismail Kakaer, Champion of Kurash, Passes Away in Germany

Sayed Mahmoud Zia Dashti, head of the Afghanistan Kurash Federation, has confirmed that Ismail Kakaer, a renowned athlete in this traditional martial art, passed away on Wednesday in Germany due to a heart attack.
According to the federation president, Kakaer suffered a cardiac event while in Germany and died. No further details have been released regarding his medical treatment or the timing of his transfer to a health facility.
In recent years, Ismail Kakaer was one of the prominent figures of Kurash in Afghanistan. He had won dozens of medals in domestic competitions and last year secured a silver medal for Afghanistan at the international competition in Paris.
Kurash is a traditional martial art that has gained a special place among the youth of Afghanistan in recent years. Kakaer’s death is considered a significant loss for the country’s sports community, especially athletes involved in this discipline.
