Russia Offers to Mediate to Stabilize Afghanistan-Pakistan Border

Russian media have reported that Alexander Vendiktov, Deputy Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, announced Moscow’s readiness to cooperate in normalizing the situation along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. He made these remarks during a meeting with Azad Sajjad Khan, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for National Security, stating that Russia hopes both sides will return to the negotiating table and resolve their disputes through political and diplomatic means. Vendiktov added that if necessary, Moscow is prepared to provide comprehensive support for this process. According to him, stability in the border areas is crucial for regional security. The Afghanistan-Pakistan border has witnessed numerous military tensions and scattered clashes over recent years, raising concerns about the security implications for residents on both sides of the border and the overall stability of the region.
