Iran’s Foreign Minister to Visit India for BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting

A spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the country’s Foreign Minister, will travel to India to participate in the BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting. The meeting is set to take place in New Delhi, and Tehran views it as important for multilateral cooperation.

Esmail Baghaei stated that Iran hopes to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of this summit, including one with the Indian Foreign Minister. According to him, such meetings could strengthen political and economic dialogues between the two countries.

Baghaei, referring to Iran and India’s membership in both the BRICS group and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, described the level of collaboration and coordination between the two nations within these organizations as “satisfactory.”

Indian media had earlier reported that Iran’s Foreign Minister is expected to arrive in New Delhi on May 14 to attend this meeting. The gathering serves as a precursor to the eighteenth BRICS summit, which is scheduled to be hosted by India in September. India currently holds the rotating presidency of this economic alliance.
