Taliban’s Telecommunications Ministry Denies Rumors of Internet Shutdown in Residential Areas

A spokesman for the Taliban’s Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology has denied claims about a meeting to cut internet services in residential areas. Inayatullah Alkozi told Shamshad TV that no decision has been made to stop internet access in residential zones.

He added that the rumors circulating on social media in recent days are baseless and untrue. According to him, such claims have caused concern among citizens.

In recent days, some social media users alleged that the Ministry of Telecommunications officials had met with heads of telecom companies to suspend internet services in residential areas; a claim now refuted by the ministry’s spokesman.

Given the widespread reliance of citizens on the internet for education, business, and daily communications, the spread of these rumors has sparked significant reactions. So far, no further details have been provided by the Taliban administration on this matter.
