Japan Announces 2027 Scholarship Applications; Deadline May 25

The Japanese Embassy in Kabul has announced the opening of the application process for the 2027 scholarships. According to the embassy, eligible applicants can obtain the guidelines and application forms from the official ‘Study in Japan’ website and must submit their applications by May 25, 2026.
As per the announced schedule, the written exam for these scholarships will be held on June 18, 2026, in Kabul. Candidates who pass this exam will be invited for interviews in July.
The Japanese Embassy has stated that the Aga Khan Foundation will assist in collecting applications and facilitating the written exam process but will have no involvement in the final decision or selection of winners.
According to the embassy, the final selection will be made independently by the embassy and the Japanese government based on academic merit, quality of submitted documents, written exam results, and interview performance. Religious, linguistic, or ethnic background will have no influence on the selection process.
The embassy also warned applicants to be cautious of potential fraud and emphasized that no payment is required at any stage of the scholarship application process.
