Taliban Officials Contact Fazl-ur-Rehman Following Sheikh Idris’s Murder

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan party has announced that several senior Taliban officials have contacted the party leader following the murder of Sheikh Idris to express their condolences.

According to a party statement, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, Acting Interior Minister, Mullah Amir Khan Motaqi, Acting Foreign Minister, Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob Mujahid, Acting Defense Minister, and Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, all reached out to Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman.

The statement added that these officials strongly condemned the killing of Sheikh Idris and expressed their sympathy with his family and supporters.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan further noted that alongside Pakistani citizens, many people in Afghanistan have also mourned the incident. No additional details have been released regarding the nature or exact timing of these communications.
