Four Children Killed in Landslide in Badakhshan’s Yamgan District

Four children lost their lives following a sudden landslide in Yamgan district of Badakhshan province. The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Friday, 18th Sowr, in the village of Wajan Oshangan.

The Department of Information and Culture of the Taliban administration in Badakhshan announced that the victims were Abdul Rahman, aged 15, Abdul Ghani, 13, Suleiman, 13, and Abdul Aziz, 10. According to this department, the children were trapped under the debris caused by the landslide while collecting oven clay in the Ilaq Koreha area of the valley.

Local officials stated that among the deceased were two brothers, an uncle, and a nephew. This incident once again highlights the dangers posed by landslides in the mountainous regions of Badakhshan.

Residents of Yamgan district say that with the arrival of spring and increased rainfall, the risk of landslides in these areas rises, posing a serious threat to families every year. They emphasize the need for preventive measures, awareness programs, and risk management initiatives by the Taliban administration to be taken more seriously in order to prevent such deadly incidents from recurring.
