Israeli Writer Warns Netanyahu’s Policies Are Sinking Israel

An Israeli writer has warned that the political and social consequences of Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies could drag Israel’s existence into a deeper crisis, referring to the “imminent end of Netanyahu’s rule.” Carolina Landsman, in an article published in Haaretz, wrote that Netanyahu’s departure seems inevitable, but the damage left behind during his tenure will not be easily repaired.

According to Al Jazeera, Landsman does not consider Netanyahu’s political demise as necessarily marking the end of the crisis within Israel’s governing structure. She emphasized that his “real achievement” has been the systematic breakdown at various levels. She wrote that Netanyahu managed to dismantle the cabinet’s structure and internal cohesion, pushing the political environment into a deadlock with no clear path forward.

The writer added with a tone of despair that the social fabric is fractured, the army is facing internal crises, and the judiciary is under pressure. In her view, Israeli society has lost its previous cohesion after years of political strife and controversial decision-making.

Landsman also pointed to the growing global hostility towards Israel and the rise of antisemitism in some countries, writing that Netanyahu’s government policies have intensified the regime’s international isolation. She warned that continuing on this path could have dangerous repercussions at regional and global levels.

In another part of the article, even Netanyahu’s opponents were not spared criticism. Landsman wrote that those who, despite political opposition, continue to support the existing structure by paying taxes, serving in the military, and defending Israel in international forums, unintentionally prolong Netanyahu’s survival.

In conclusion, she likened Israel to a body afflicted with a “malignant tumor” and claimed that efforts to remove this tumor—i.e., Netanyahu—are no longer sufficient to save the body, because, in her opinion, the damage has already become deeply rooted.
