Pakistan Foreign Ministry Condemns Taliban Border Attacks as ‘Unprovoked’

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has stated that Taliban militants carried out shooting and shelling on border areas, including South Waziristan, on April 26 and 29. According to the spokesperson, these attacks targeted civilians. Islamabad described the incidents as “unprovoked” and strongly condemned them.
Tahir Andarabi reported that among the injured were women and children aged three, eight, and ten. According to the Express Tribune, Pakistani officials emphasized that these events have raised serious concerns regarding the security of border area residents.
Meanwhile, Pakistan dismissed reports of civilian casualties in Kunar province as “inaccurate” and accused the Taliban administration of spreading misinformation. This stance was expressed in response to recent statements by Taliban officials.
Earlier, Hamdullah Fetrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban administration, claimed that Pakistani forces targeted parts of Kunar province, including the Jamaluddin Afghan University. He stated that in the attack, 70 people, including women, children, and 30 students, were wounded, while four others lost their lives.
The mutual accusations between the two sides continue as border tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan have increased in recent months. Both sides accuse each other of supporting armed groups and conducting military attacks, a situation that has heightened concerns about the security of border residents and regional stability.
Following reports of an attack on an educational center in Kunar, some Afghan political figures and international organizations have reacted. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) also stressed that educational institutions must be protected from any military attacks.
