Taliban’s Mullah Baradar Meets UK Envoy to Discuss Continued Humanitarian Aid

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban administration, met with Richard Lindley, the United Kingdom’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, in his office. The meeting focused on the continuation of humanitarian aid and strengthening cooperation with the international community.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the discussions centered on enhanced coordination between Afghanistan and the global community, as well as the continuation of humanitarian assistance from the British government and people. Both parties also emphasized the importance of engagement between the people of Afghanistan and the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, Mullah Baradar claimed that Afghanistan’s economic situation has improved compared to the past, and economic cooperation with regional and neighboring countries has expanded. However, Afghanistan still faces serious economic challenges and remains heavily dependent on foreign aid, a situation requiring greater transparency and effective planning to alleviate the livelihoods crisis faced by the country’s residents.
Richard Lindley expressed his condolences to the families of Afghan victims of recent attacks attributed to Pakistan’s regime and affirmed that the UK government and people would continue their aid to Afghanistan. These statements come amid the Taliban administration remaining unrecognized by many countries, with continued humanitarian aid representing one of the few official channels for engagement with the international community.
