Authorities Seize 30 Tons of Substandard Goods from Paktia Markets

Officials from the Paktia Province Directorate of Industry and Trade have announced that over the past four months, they have confiscated and destroyed 30 tons of expired and low-quality food and non-food items from markets and shops in Gardez city, the provincial capital.

Mawlawi Mohammad Azim Azimi, head of the directorate operating under Taliban administration, told media outlets that these items were identified through continuous inspections conducted by a specialized commission. The confiscated goods were burned in the presence of several officials.

He added that the process of monitoring and inspection in the markets will continue to prevent the sale of illegal and poor-quality products. Azimi emphasized that the directorate, in cooperation with other relevant departments, strives to regularly inspect markets, identify violators, and take legal action against them.

Members of the commission have urged traders to adhere to trade principles, pay close attention to product quality and expiration dates, and refrain from selling expired and counterfeit goods.

Meanwhile, several residents of Paktia have welcomed this initiative, calling it a significant step toward protecting public health. They stressed that ongoing oversight like this could enhance public trust in local markets.
