Over 34,000 Afghan Migrants Expelled from Punjab, Pakistan

Punjab police in Pakistan have announced that they have expelled 34,545 Afghan migrants from the province so far. According to the authorities, the process of returning undocumented individuals is ongoing, and Punjab’s security situation remains on high alert.

Based on the provided figures, among those expelled are 13,389 men, 6,963 women, and 14,224 children. Pakistani officials have not specified the timeline during which these expulsions occurred.

Punjab police added that 203 Afghan migrants are still residing in camps. It was further stated that out of the total expelled, 10,771 held residence permits, 11,131 had Afghan citizenship cards, and 12,643 were without any documentation.

Pakistani authorities have emphasized that the expulsion of undocumented individuals will continue. This process has intensified in recent months and has expanded following increased tensions and border clashes between Taliban forces and Pakistan.

While thousands of Afghan families face the threat of deportation, the Taliban administration has yet to present a clear and practical plan to address the situation of returnees or to provide shelter and livelihood opportunities within the country. This has raised serious concerns about the fate of the expelled women and children.
