Ukraine Conducts Drone Attack on Russia’s Yaroslavl Oil Refinery

Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed on Sunday that a drone attack targeted the Yaroslavl oil refinery on Russian territory, causing a fire at the site. The exact extent of the damage is still under assessment.

Kyiv media, citing a statement from Ukraine’s General Staff, reported that the Yaroslavl refinery is a strategic facility and a key component of Russia’s oil refining industry. The statement added that the complex has an annual crude oil refining capacity of about 15 million tons.

Mikhail Yuraev, governor of the Yaroslavl region, stated that a drone attack warning had been issued in the area during the night. Simultaneously, an independent Telegram channel also reported the attack on the refinery. However, local officials have yet to provide further details about possible damages.

Separately, Russian authorities reported another drone attack in the Vologda region north of Moscow. Georgy Filimonov, governor of that region, said Ukrainian drones targeted the Cherepovets branch of “Apatit,” a company producing phosphate chemical fertilizers. According to him, the explosion of a high-pressure pipeline caused acid burns to five people, one of whom is in critical condition.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that a total of 203 Ukrainian drones have been intercepted and shot down across several regions, including areas around Moscow, Crimea, and the Black Sea. Telegram sources have reported drone attacks in the Crimean cities of Bakhchisaray and Sevastopol, as well as the city of Michurinsk in the Tambov region.

Additionally, Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, stated that the city of Alekseyevka and the village of Rezhovka near Russia’s northeastern border with Ukraine were targeted by drone attacks.

As part of the ongoing conflict with Russia, Ukraine has intensified strikes against military and energy infrastructure deep inside Russian territory and Moscow-controlled areas. Kyiv emphasizes that energy facilities are legitimate military targets, asserting these sites play a role in supplying fuel and financial resources for Russian military operations.
