Taliban Health Minister Stresses Drug Quality Control at Hairatan Port

Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, the Taliban’s Acting Minister of Public Health, during his visit to Balkh province, met with Mohammad Yousuf Wafa, the governor of the province, and emphasized strengthening oversight of imported medicines through Hairatan Port. According to the Ministry of Public Health, their discussions included activating laboratories to ensure the quality of medicines and delivering standard drugs to the public.
According to released information, the two sides also talked about improving and expanding health services in Balkh and other areas. The activation of quality control laboratories at Hairatan Port was highlighted as a key point in the meeting to evaluate and inspect imported medicines before distribution.
The meeting also emphasized providing health services to Afghan returnees and establishing hospitals at the district level. This initiative aims to provide residents of remote areas with access to essential health services, a long-standing challenge in the country’s health system.
The Taliban’s Acting Minister of Public Health stated that the ministry is committed to developing, improving quality, and equitable distribution of health services across all provinces. However, many residents in various provinces continue to complain about the lack of facilities, absence of standard medicines, and weak health infrastructure—issues that require practical action and increased transparency in health sector management.
