Ceremonial Blunder: Australian Flags Raised Instead of British for King Charles III’s US Visit

On the eve of King Charles III’s official visit to the United States, a significant ceremonial mistake drew media attention when Australian flags were mistakenly displayed instead of British flags near the White House. This incident occurred while formal arrangements for welcoming the monarch were being prepared.
According to Reuters, officials in the District of Columbia mistakenly raised Australian flags in place of the official British flags. This error came to light after images of the flags were circulated in the media.
King Charles III’s visit to the US is scheduled from April 27 to April 30. The trip is part of his official engagements as the King of the United Kingdom.
Although Charles III is also officially recognized as the King of Australia, his role there is largely ceremonial, with executive affairs managed by locally elected institutions.
