Taliban Official Claims Afghanistan Safe Amid Migrant Uncertainty in Qatar; Trump Plans Relocation Controversy

Abdul Qahir Balkhi, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry, has urged Afghan migrants residing in a camp in Qatar to return to Afghanistan with confidence, asserting that the country’s situation is safe. In a message posted on the social media platform X, Balkhi stated that no one is forced to leave Afghanistan due to security issues.

Balkhi also emphasized that those intending to travel abroad should do so through legal and official channels. These remarks come as thousands of Afghans have fled the country over recent years, citing security concerns, extensive restrictions, and human rights conditions—issues consistently criticized by international organizations.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump plans to relocate Afghan migrants living in the Qatar camp to the Republic of Congo. The New York Times previously reported that this proposal is under consideration within the U.S. government.

The suggestion has sparked strong reactions within the United States. Several American lawmakers have criticized the move, with some senators labeling it a “betrayal” of Afghanistan’s U.S. allies during the 20-year war and demanding its immediate cancellation.
