Iran’s Foreign Minister Begins Regional Tour Amid Trump’s Strategic Miscalculations

Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, has embarked on a regional trip to Pakistan, Oman, and Russia. Reports indicate that he is pursuing several objectives during this visit.

In Islamabad, a new Iranian proposal package will be presented through ongoing talks; this package is expected to include significantly increased demands from Iran. In Muscat, final warnings will be delivered to the leaders of the Arab countries in the region, while Moscow is expected to serve as a venue for reviewing the situation and coordinating strategies.

After forty days of military conflict, President Donald Trump has now shifted to economic warfare. The main problem with Trump’s approach lies in his criteria for success, which focus on the quantity and quality of military assets, yet his calculations have been flawed.

In Trump’s logic, a country possessing hundreds of F-35s, B-2s, B-52s, multiple aircraft carrier groups, and numerous radar and drone systems in the region should, in theory, be able to quickly defeat a country like Iran.

However, when military hardware alone is the basis for calculations, errors are likely. Trump currently finds himself unable to understand why, despite the vast budget and military capabilities deployed, he is tasting defeat instead of suppressing Iran.

Trump’s panic, resulting from his miscalculations, has led him to accept any proposal aimed at countering Iran. For example, if deploying troops in Isfahan fails to yield results, he turns to attacking infrastructure, and if that also fails, he resorts to naval blockades.

In warfare, there is an unwritten rule: if you see your enemy making a mistake, let them continue making it. Trump is exactly in this situation, and Iran, by allowing him to continue and repeat his mistakes, is turning his cards against him.

Iran’s politicians and military commanders have rightly understood how to confront Trump. Without rushing, they allow him to make more mistakes. The increase and repetition of these errors will inevitably harm the United States. Each additional day that the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked results in irreparable damage to global energy markets and, of course, the region’s Arab producers.

If this situation continues, the United States will ultimately be forced, with apologies and pleas, to acknowledge the payment of transit fees through the Strait of Hormuz to prevent further irreversible economic damage.

This is precisely why I say Trump is entangled in a miscalculation that has been the root of his failures so far.

When Trump’s false illusions are finally shattered and he faces events based on the reality on the ground, the true time for negotiation and dialogue will arrive. Until then, Iran has the opportunity to incrementally increase its demands and claim everything it has been deprived of over the past 47 years all at once.
