Taliban Ministry Warns of Heavy Rain and Flash Floods in 26 Afghan Provinces

The Taliban Ministry of Transport and Aviation has issued a warning of heavy rains, thunderstorms, and sudden flash floods in 26 provinces across Afghanistan. This alert, released on Thursday, covers today and tomorrow.

According to the ministry, the provinces included in this forecast are Nuristan, Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, Kabul, Panjshir, Parwan, Baghlan, Samangan, Badakhshan, Takhar, Jawzjan, Sar-e Pol, Balkh, Faryab, Badghis, Herat, Farah, Daykundi, Bamyan, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Khost, and Paktia.

The ministry stated that rainfall amounts are expected to range between 10 to 30 millimeters in various areas. Such levels of rainfall in some mountainous and vulnerable regions could increase water levels and trigger sudden flash floods.

Additionally, warnings have been issued for strong winds in the central, eastern, and southeastern provinces. Wind speeds are predicted to range from 50 to 90 kilometers per hour, potentially causing damage in some areas.

In recent years, flash floods in several provinces have resulted in financial losses and casualties. Therefore, timely awareness and preparedness by responsible agencies are of great importance to reduce the impact of these natural events.
