Russia Rejects Netanyahu’s Claims on Iran’s Nuclear Program as Unacceptable

Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks on Iran’s nuclear program as “unacceptable” and a distortion of historical facts. Maria Zakharova stated that Netanyahu’s claim that Israel has eliminated the threat of a “nuclear Holocaust” posed by Iran does not align with reality.
According to RIA Novosti, Zakharova emphasized that making such allegations about Iran’s nuclear program reflects a misunderstanding of the current situation. She did not provide further details but clarified Moscow’s stance against this type of rhetoric.
Previously, Netanyahu had claimed that Israel’s actions have prevented what he called the “Iranian nuclear threat.” This comes as reports published by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during various periods have focused on monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities.
Additionally, Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that their nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. Within this framework, the fatwa issued by Ayatollah Khamenei, the revered leader of the Islamic Revolution, prohibiting the production and use of weapons of mass destruction, has been cited by Iranian authorities as part of the country’s official stance.
