Iran Begins Updating Information for Foreign Migrants Holding Valid ID Cards

Iran’s Ministry of Interior’s Center for Foreign Nationals and Immigrants announced the start of the process to update information for foreign nationals holding valid identification cards. Holders of these cards have until the end of the current Iranian month of Jawza (June) to book an appointment.
Nader Yarahmadi, advisor to the minister and head of the center, noted that following the approval of the Iranian government, all foreign nationals with valid ID cards can schedule an appointment by June 21, 2026 (31 Jawza 1405) at the offices of residence and employment services for foreign nationals in their respective provinces.
He added that one member per family should visit the same office where the family received services during the previous phase of the plan. This visit is both to obtain an appointment and to be informed about the implementation requirements. The process also includes those who currently hold a valid travel permit for this year instead of an ID card.
The head of the Center for Foreign Nationals and Immigrants stressed that applicants must bring with them a confirmation of housing tracking code, postal code, health insurance or social security insurance, and if they have a school-attending child, educational documents from the previous year. Additionally, everyone over 18 years old is required to have a Sana code (national electronic identification code).
Relevant authorities have stated that correctly completing and submitting these documents will facilitate the review and execution of the plan. Iran is one of the main hosts for Afghan migrants, and such programs are generally aimed at organizing their residency and service information.
